Finca Poundbury

When it comes to impressive locations, Finca Poundbury has nabbed a good one. From its position in the rotunda at the top of the Buttermarket, it looks down across immaculate townhouses towards green fields. If you’re quick off the mark, you can ease into a deckchair with your morning cappu and take it all in from the roomy terrace.

Meticulously selected beans make the brief trip from Finca’s Dorchester roastery where they’re expertly toasted by hand. Expect seasonally changing single origins, with at least 20 varieties being given a whirl throughout the year. As well as all the usual espresso suspects, you can opt for V60, Aeropress or cold-brew. Choose on-tap nitro to enjoy a palate-tingling caffeine hit.

Mingling with the aromas from the La Marzocco, you’ll discern the warm fragrance of baking. That’ll be the on-site bakers, rustling up an array of imaginative cakes as well as sourdoughs and organic breads. Oven-to-plate freshness means the food’s a pretty big thing here too – with hot buttered toast proving nigh-on irresistible.

Insider’s Tip: Keep your eyes peeled for themed evenings – Finca’s flatbread and pizzas are simple but unmissable pleasures.
